The Brown Bear is one of the oldest buildings in Braughing, and one of the oldest licensed buildings in the area. We are a true Free House, and as such offer an-ever changing range of cask ale (we are in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2017), alongside a choice of beer imported from the Czech Republic. We have a fine selection of single malts, and huge choice of gins from around the world.
We serve real home-made food, including our own burgers, curries and pies. We offer home battered fish (Thurs eve onwards untill we sell out), and on Sundays a proper traditional roast, with a choice of meats and of course all the trimmings. We will happily cater for any intolerances – for example, with notice, we can happily provide gluten free alternatives to anything on our menu that normally contains gluten – ie pie pastry, fish batter, sausages etc. We also offer a range of vegetarian options. Because we have a small kitchen the more notice we have the easier it is for us to offer a better range of choices, but we can always do something available for walk-in customers with special requirements, even if it is not shown on the menu!
